The wisdom of running it that way, when Apple support tells you that Admin is not supported on Intel Macs, is left to the judgement of the reader.

Like you also pointed out it is supported now. <http:// docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303128>. An organization might not be prepared to purchase, QA, and rollout ARD 3 yet; despite it's compelling feature set.
