RE: [Fed-Talk] Safest way to run Windows?

It is a good plan... I know in our agency we've said this over and over
for the VMWare platform under Linux but it did no good.

It comes down to whoever is in charge, if they have the guts to make
changes (and 99% don't), and what they push.

We actually have people here (in IHS) saying "There is an HHS Policy
that says no Macs."

I always respond with "can you please show it to me? NIH has
thousands."

To date, nobody can produce anything simply because there isn't one.

I am really impressed with Parallels speed. It by far is the fastest
virtual machine I have ever seen (don't know if it's their software or
the Core Duo), but it's impressive.

Speaking of impressive, the 17 inch MacBook Pro is now out. When the
dealer I usually buy from gets them in I'll be placing the order.
Regardless of whether you want to run OS X or Windows, the MacBook Pro
will be a perfect Windows Vista machine whether dual booted or not. It
opens up the best of both worlds.

Subject: [Fed-Talk] Safest way to run Windows?

The Mac Observer blog has an interesting article saying that one
approach to positioning the Mac is that it provides the safest way to
run Windows. By using virtualization with the Mac as the host
operating system and Windows as the guest operating system, the Mac
can essentially serve as a security supervisor to the Windows
operations.

This may be one way to get Macs into the doors of those government
Windows shops -- Its a windows machine with a $100 security
supervisor. ;-)
