Well, "designed to meet" is not the same as "approved" :-). X-Wall (which is what this is using internally, according to the manual) got certification of their algorithms, but didn't have FIPS 140-2 approval (which covers the physical embedment as well) last time I checked. That said, the idea of an internal 2.5" drive with a physical token is very, very interesting. Thank you very much for the pointer--I'll have to get some more information about these. Has Apple tried any of these? From the manual, it looks as though it's PC specific, though not OS specific. Amanda Walker |
