Using the Key Chain to see if the CAC works was not useful for me. In  my
case, the utility does not see it but Safari has no issues. Trying to get
the utility working broke my Safari CAC access and did not fix the keychain.
I had to re-install the combo 10.4.8 updater to recover Safari funtionality,
still not keychain access.  I use a PowerBook G4 with the SCR234 (pcmcia).
