Title: Re: [Fed-Talk] Mighty Mouse Right-Click causes Finder restart?
Hi James,

Thanks for the note. Yes I have look at Crashreporter and it is all over the place – everything from QuickTime to _javascript_ to even the Japanese language translator :)

The only link I can place to this is a format & reinstall of the OS that was done @ a week ago to correct a over-enthusiastic user install of a lot of APE & other Pref Panes (mostly the Unsanity Haxies, which I have heard not only slow down the MacBook Pro but destabilize the OS) Not sure about the destabilization of the OS, but can surely attest to system slowdown — they give the user some nice features but at a HUGE system hit (his Core 2 Duo ran slower than a old Powerbook G4 1.25!) Which is why we did the Format & Reinstall But, I digress....

So here I am with a wonky finder that every so often will CTD apps (both Rosetta and UB).

Any ideas folks? Should we do YA Format & Reinstall?

Cheers,

Bob

Bob,
Any info in the log files or Finder crash logs?

Hopefully someone will have a solution or explanation for this...

Not all the time, but occasionally, one of my users (MacBook Pro Core 2 (2.33) Duo, 2GB RAM, OS 10.4.9 will right click on a file or item in the finder and all of the icons/drives/servers on his desktop will disappear and finder windows will close. Then all the icons will reappear (but the finder windows will not, if there was a open window).

Has anyone seen this — and more importantly, what is the fix for this annoying behavior?

Thanks!

Bob Williams
