I look at it as something like cellular broadband wireless; sure I'd
like to have it built into the machine, but I'd also like to be able to
change providers, or change standards easily. My only gripe with the
design of the new laptops is that the USB slots are pretty close
together, so it's hard to have more than one wide USB device plugged in
at a time.
If Apple would drop ExpressCard/34 and use ExpressCard/54 instead, we
could use readers in the ExpressCard slot.
As it is, the 34mm slot is too small for a card reader. It's just 2cm
difference!
