While I'm new to Coca, I spoke to a friend who has been working with Apple technologies for years. He said it's possible to use two iSight cameras on one mac. So I bought the hardware and wrote a dinky little program to view the two cameras at once; it works, however the quality of the second camera to be called is significantly worse than the other. Is this a limitation on the firewire bus? Is there anyway to get around it?

It is strictly a limitation on the available bus bandwidth.
Most likely you have setup your first video channel so iSight is generating a 640 x 480 image @ 30 fps.
The next one comes along and tries to open an identical size channel, but fails due to bandwidth limitations so keeps on trying smaller and smaller frame sizes until there is sufficient bandwidth.

So the work around is to have your SGChannelBounds be smaller (say 320 x 240) and/or add a PCI FireWire card to get more bandwidth.
