While it is (or was) tempting to think of iPod as a vehicle to promote FireWire, that's not why Apple makes iPod - not even close.

You will be (I hope!) happy to know that there has been no change in the FireWire team at Apple; we are hard at work on future products, and in the near term, an SDK update for folks using the Developer Transition Kit.

It seems that almost the entire professional audio world and the professional TV / Movie industry is embracing FireWire  ... and Apple is cutting FireWire out of the flagship iPod line?
