The new gfortran beta binaries are available to Mac users now at
http://gfortran.org/, but I have a question.
It appears that the required cc528 installer replaces the gcc linker and
loader with something that is more gcc 4.0 compatible. Also, peeking inside
the /irun directory that you download to install gfortran, I see a gcc
executable file lurking inside.
Question: will installing the gfortran beta break my g77-3.4.2 compiler that
I rely upon daily for my Fortran existence? How about gcc compiles in
general? Previous updates of gcc were notorious for breaking g77 and other
things, so that's why I'm asking.
Any experience out there, good or bad?
Joe
