I'm one of Norman's colleagues who initially found the problems we've
been having with linking. I too thought that it could have been a
problem that might be fixed by applying the November 2004 gcc patch,
but I applied that and still get the same "type S_REGULAR does not
match previous objects type S_COALESCED" errors. I went so far as to
completely reinstall Fink and g77 (which takes much too long on my
PowerBook 867, I might add) and that didn't fix the problem either.

My next course of action was to eliminate the two versions problem and
use gcc/g77 as downloaded and compiled from gcc.org. I have downloaded
and compiled them but haven't tried rebuilding our software with it
yet (mainly because to do so takes the better part of a day for me).

Cheers,
 Brad.
