When you say run it through the debugger I am not sure how I would
do that. Do you have an example or some place I can go see/read a
tutorial on this procedure?
So you're writing software without debugging it, or are you simply not
the developer yourself? Either way, basic GDB usage would be well
beyond the scope of this particular mailing list. I'd suggest passing
the crash logs along to whomever is responsible for this code's
maintenance.
