Can JMF(Java ^TM Media Framework) run on Mac?
Do we need some specific JDK verison or configuration?
Yes, it can. I've used crossplatform package without any Mac-specific
issues on Jaguar, Panther and Tiger. It works on Intel-based Macs too.
You should read documentation and tutorials carefully - your application
may freeze if you stop and close JMF players in incorrect order. Pay
attention to codec options when you export multimedia files - not all
options are supported by JMF, e.g. packed headers in H.264 are not
supported.
Oh, I got it:
*Q: What platforms does JMF 2.1.1 run on? *
JMF 2.1.1 will run on Windows 95/98/NT 4.0/2000, Solaris/SPARC, and any
Java Compatible platforms. The pure Java version of JMF 2.1.1 will now
run on Apple's MRJ 2.1.4; however there are a/v syncronization problems
since Apple added a 6 second audio buffer to that MRJ.
I've not encountered any a/v synchronization problems with
configurations listed above.
