I've had numerous problems with Eclipse 3.0 and 3.1 on a TiBook G4
667 (other than that's it's really really slow). Sometimes it will
hang or crash 4-5 times an hour. More normally it's a couple times a
day. The powerbook probably has some hardware issues, as it isn't
nearly as stable as my G5, but while other apps crash occasionally,
Eclipse is particularly sensitive and unstable. Often the crash is
preceded by trying to open some popup, like the code completion
window, or a dialog, like the Cmd-shift-T Find Class dialog.
Sometimes it's caused when the workspace is building. But the pattern
is mostly the same: cpu gets pegged, my fan comes on, and I get the
spinning wheel of death. Sometimes I have to force quit, other times
it just crashes. This is even after a clean OS install with a fresh
Eclipse. I started to keep some crash logs to submit a bug, but never
got around to it. Plus I didn't know how much was related to the
WOLips plugin I use heavily, and it was seemed very random as to when
it would occur, and I figured it was my hardware. Frustratingly,
several times it was triggered by a Cmd-shift-S save all, and I lost
work. For WebObjects, I still preferred the unstable Eclipse to Xcode
however :(.
I just recently got a new Powerbook and put 3.1 on it, and so far
I've only had 1 crash in the first week. I'll keep my logs and submit
a bug if it keeps happening. Hopefully it can get tracked down as
it's quite annoying. I don't recall particular issues with closing
the quick fix dialog, but I usually use the ESC key to cancel it.
However, trying to open the quick fix popup was a common trigger of
my hangs/crashes.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've had it for some time (I
believe with Eclipse 3.0
under Mac OS X 10.3 too), but it's now getting to be really
annoying. If noone else has
had this problem, I'd be inclined to assume that it's something to
do with my configuration.
Any thoughts?
