Re: eclipse plug-in development in Tiger OS

I haven't tried to reproduce your problem (yet), but I know that neither Eclipse 2.1.3 nor 3.0 is officially supported on Tiger. This doesn't mean that it won't work, but we didn't test that combination.

Guys:

I am running into the following problems while testing some plug-ins
that I originally developed for eclipse 2.13 and 3.X in Windows and
Linux.

In eclipse 2.13 I can not even start a debug session any plug-in project.

For instance, I used the "hello world" plug-in template. When I try to
launch a debug session of it, the new eclipse session can not connect
to the VM.

The error is as follows:
"
[JavaAppLauncher Warning] Specifying a specific version for JVMVersion
1.3.1 is deprecated. Use the more general 1.3* instead.
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not find -Xrun library: libjdwp.jnilib (searched
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.3.1/Libraries:.)
"

I modified the *.plist JVMVersion to 1.3+, 1.4.2, and 1.4*

These changes made things worse. Eclipse will not even launch

I added the string "-Djava.awt.headless=true" but this did not help.

In eclipse 3.X, I modified the *.plist to include
"-Djava.awt.headless=true" and the plug-in debug session launches ok.
I even added the same string to the VM argument field of the debugger.

All the non-gui logic of my plug-ins works as expected but the
gui-logic causes the following exception:

ava.awt.HeadlessException
2005-08-15 20:32:23.785 java_swt[512] Apple AWT Couldn't start
headless. SetApplicationIsDaemon returned -50

Any thoughts, hints? Thanks a lot in advance!!

José
