Let me ask a simpler question:
How are you learning NetBeans?
Are you using some kind of tutorial or quickstart, or are you just
wandering around in NetBeans without any references or guidance at all?

In general, "right click" will mean control-click on Mac OS X.
However, if you plug in a two-button USB mouse, Mac OS X should
automatically recognize an actual right-click as a control-click, without
you having to do anything first. It worked for me when I plugged in a
two-button trackball, with no extra drivers or anything. It just worked.
