Yep, it fixed the repeating menus.

Why does the inactive JInternalFrame get a transparent stripe where the menu should be? Shouldn't it have its menu?

This sounds like a bug that is fixed in the upcoming 1.4.2 release for
Tiger; can you test with the most recent developer preview?
