JNI and Carbon with Java1.4.2

Hello list members,

against Apple's recommendation not to the use of the technologies JNI and Carbon together (since the creation of Java 1.4.1), i *have to* bridge the gap between Macos 9/MRJ2.2.x and Macos 10.3/10.4 on the basis of compatible files. So i have to deal with resource fork, fileinfo-Bits, comments etc.. To make matters worse, Quark4 is used in the classic environment and we have a mixture of classic and modern photoshop variants (6.0/6.5, CS etc). So i have to provide files in the most compatible manner, to make the classic applications happy, no matter what Macos they are running on.

Does JNI still work with Carbon on this basic level (FileManager, Resource Manager). Btw i have to read and write resource Data. Or should i forget it (and not go to work the next few days .. ;-)

regards,

	Tom
