This sounds like a bug in the JVM somewhere. You should file a bug report.

Not certain how to do this for this particular bug.  To reproduce it using Xcode 2.4.1 on 10.4.11:

1)  create new Java AWT Application project and build it.

2)  locate the application bundle and move it into a new folder "untitled folder" on the Desktop (or anything equivalent).

3)  double click - it runs and displays "Hello World".

4)  rename the folder "untitled/folder" (or anything equivalent with a slash)

5)  double click - it bounces in the dock but does not run.

Is that really a JVM problem? Same issue on 10.5.2 - it was a Leopard user who alerted me to the problem thinking it was a new issue.

File it as a Java issue. We'll send it off to the appropriate group if it turns out to be not our problem.

I tried doing the same with TextEdit - renamed it to TextEdit/hello and that seems to launch fine. Tried a java bundled app and it failed in the manner you described. It does look like our problem... File a bug at <http://bugreporter.apple.com>
