All depends on what you mean by name.  If you mean, the IP address, I
agree.  If you mean, the name by which the computer's owner/user
thinks of it, I disagree.  It's insane that there's no way to tell the
computer what the user thinks its name is.  And don't tell me about
the Sharing pref pane.  I set my computer's name to "foo.parc.com" in
that pane, then run "hostname", and what I get back is "foo".
