Re: Why cant one just compile up Java 6 on the Mac?



Not a stupid question.

This has been tried, with some success - see soylatte http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/static/soylatte/

However, much of java 6 (and any version of java) is the native look and feel. For OS X, that would be Aqua, and soylatte doesn't provide that.
