Ok... Sun and Microsoft probably hate each other... but Sun can still make a version that ties into the API and yippi we got Java. I'm sure Sun would readily do the same thing for the Mac, and probably get the whole UI right as well..

So why cant Sun do that... why cant Mac just say, heres our API calls... do what you have to?

Why are Mac guys struggling along and getting hammered, and why are guys struggling with ports? Microsoft I'm sure is not helping Sun much either... so why the extra hassle on the Mac.

Java is just a program... why doesnt Sun just make it and stick it on the web, for the Mac?

They probably do all the work, on Windows, because they know that it is the only way to stay relevant. Microsoft is not going to do the work and Sun needs Java to be available to the most people possible, so the importance of MS-Windows. Oh, and it should probably be mentioned that they probably don't trust Microsoft after the whole J ++ incident.

As to why they don't do the development of the Apple side, well we can probably argue until the cows come home, though they probably that figure while Apple is doing the work they don't need to.
