Considering Sun's release schedules in the past (public beta 1 & 2, release candidate 1 & 2, final), it seems very unlikely that 1.4 will be released at JavaOne, public beta, maybe, but then that means that 1.4 wouldn't likely be out before August.

Personally, I'm annoyed that the template stuff isn't being addressed until the released after that. The technology and hooks have been available since 1.2.
