Java plug-in for Mac

Will this ever happen?

I don't like the thought of having to use JSSE to support SLL for Mac users
when the Windows/Linux plug-in handles SSL.

That annoyance aside, is there a 'JAR caching' mechanism available in Max
OSX like with the Windows plug-in?
