Re: Sun's J2EE SDK

If I understand your question, you want to install and use the J2EESDK under OSX? No build tool is required as all of the binaries have been created. I'm new to the Apple world, so perhaps I am misunderstanding what it is you are asking. If you want to build the source, which is freely available, then a build tool will be needed.

Download and unzip the linux distribution to the folder of your choice

Open the userconfig.sh file In the bin folder and set the JAVA_HOME to the following:
/System/Library/FrameWorks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.3.1/Home

You will also need to modify the scripts of any UI enabled programs to use the metal look and feel as the defualt. The deploytool file in bin folder would be changed as follows:
SYSTEM_PROPERTIES="-Dcom.sun.enterprise.home=$J2EE_HOME -Dswing.defaultlaf=javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel"

This should do the trick, I have been running it trouble free and have been happy with it's performance under OSX

I didn't darwin in the options but maybe it works
under a solaris install. Who knows?
