thanks, for explanation Seth, that's exactly was my point

in any cases source code should be checked carefully to understand what's going on
Case Study isn't only java software on the Earth
there are many complex software project that do run successfully on the Apple's JVM
with or without hardware acceleration
so source should be checked, bug should be reported if needed

if software works with the specific JDK or with specific hardware acceleration setting
and you know which JDK and value of the hardware acceleration setting
create MAC OS X launcher with appropriate properties
as short term workaround and close the deal :-)

generally I don't like I'd say "blackmail" style:
if you don't fix it we won't use your platform
maybe it's true but I still don't like it
