Character encoding problem

Hello

I have developed an applet. This applet create text file. In this text file
applet writes his parameter.
some of the parameters value is encoded as unicode character, which are
japanese and some of are japanese character.

But output text file shows garbage for unicode and japanese character. I
think getParameter method of applet is not returning correct character code.
so writer is writing wrong characters in text file.

Anybody has tried this and has correct solution. Please let me know correct
way of reading unicode or japanese character from applet parameter and
writing it to text file since I have little experience on java technologies
on Macintosh.

Regards
Shashi
