Actually ,this hits on an area of interest of mine.
There is no shortage of nifty books for doing cool graphics programming. The graphics gems series and such.

What I haven't really seen is an equivalent set of stuff on digital audio processing theory/algos.
Any pointers to resources on this would be really great.

I am trying to do music/audio analysis of MIDI/MP3 files.

I can imagine dozens of different "music/audio analysis" operations on both
MIDI and MP3 files. Exactly what analysis are you doing, using what kind
of data?

Maybe you should spend some time with a search engine and learn for
yourself exactly what kind of data is actually contained in MIDI and MP3
files. I have a feeling it's nothing at all like what you seem to think it
is.
