Well, I used the bug reporting system of Apple more than a year ago,

me not!

I've had the exact opposite experience. When I submit compact code examples which demonstrate a problem, my bugs are usually resolved in the next developer release. I often receive a personal message from devbugs which says something like:

"Our engineering team has tested against this bug report and is unable to reproduce the issue in Java 1.4.1 Update DPxxx. Please let us know whether or not you continue to experience the issue with the newly released software on [date]."

Sure enough ... bug squished. :-)

One nasty bug (not mine) that was reported on this list on a Sunday afternoon was fixed overnight -- total elapsed time: 18 hours and 46 minutes. That RAWKS!
