RE: RIP Java 3D

I don't really see the significance of this announcement. There have been
many such java-to-OpenGL bindings developed in the recent past; in fact, Sun
just released their previous "official" binding at JavaOne :

http://jogl.dev.java.net/

Here's an older third-party one:

http://www.jausoft.com/products/gl4java/gl4java_main.html

and a lightweight version:

http://java-game-lib.sourceforge.net/

These are all wrappers for the native OpenGL libs on a host platform.

Java3D is a higher-level API, so it's not really the same as OpenGL. In
fact, on Windows, Java3D has two implementations, one on top of OpenGL, and
one on top of DirectX.

So this announcement doesn't really change much, I don't think...unless I'm
missing something. Am I?
