Making runnable JARs

Hi everyone,

I'm rather new to Java, and I'm having trouble creating JAR files that will run on anything. I've tried repeatedly to add the Main-Class attribute to the manifest files, but I always get a plane-jane manifest without any Main-Class listed. Is there a problem with Apple's jar implementation? When I use the v option while updating, it tells me that the manifest was updated, but nothing is added.

Unfortunately, I have to run this program on Windows as well as Macs, but I've been so far, an absolute failure to get anything to work on Windows, even running it straight from the collection of compiled .class files. I'm using straight Swing, with no Apple-specific anything. What am I doing wrong?

By the way, I've just recovered from upgrading to Panther, and the versioning problems that came along with it.
