It seems that the JavaVM on the G5 is missing libraries. I installed the_______________________________________________
very useful tool MyEclipse which is an extension to the Eclipse IDE on my
new G5. It works on my G4. I installed the latest java and system software
on both. When I try to launch Tomcat from the IDE. It gives me a missing
library error for the library that should be at this location
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.4.1/Libraries/ libjdwp
.jnilib. I confirmed that it is missing from the file system. From comparing
the G4 Libraries folder, it seems that libdt_local.jnilib and
libdt_socket.jnilib are also missing from the G5 (although, I don't think
they are required for MyEclipse).
The G5 reports the following version of java:
1.4.1_01 SE (Build 1.4.1_01-68)
Hotspot 1.4.1_01-23
The G4 which does not have one library libAppletsInCocoa.jnilib that the G5
does have (but does have the libraries mentioned above).
1.4.1_01 SE (Build 1.4.1_01_39)
Hotspot 1.4.1_01-14
Copying over the missing libraries to the G5 does not work. It gives me a
more obscure error (probably a bad idea anyway).
Can anyone explain the differences in Libraries on the G5 or had a similar
experience? Or maybe even say what the different libraries do? Searching in
Google turned up nothing.
