sending email with Java on Mac OS X Server (JBoss) (Modified by Graham Perrin)

Having difficulties sending mail from a Java application that works OK on a Linux box (Tomcat) but fails as we're trying to move it over to run from Mac OS X Server 10.3.3 (JBoss).

EXTRACT from server.log

Depends On Me: javax.naming.NameAlreadyBoundException]
2004-04-02 17:41:29,483 ERROR [org.jboss.web.localhost.Engine] action: Problem sending an email:
javax.mail.SendFailedException: Sending failed;
nested exception is:
class javax.mail.MessagingException: IOException while sending message;
nested exception is:
javax.activation.UnsupportedDataTypeException: no object DCH for MIME type text/plain; charset=us-ascii
at javax.mail.Transport.send0(Transport.java:218)
at javax.mail.Transport.send(Transport.java:80)

Searches on the internet suggest that if we were in Linux, the solution would be a mailcap file but (a) we haven't got that working and (b) in any case we doubt whether this is relevant in MOSX Server environment.

Help?!

TIA
