I strongly suggest putting together a few simple test cases that show radical performance differences between the client and server VM on windows, and file bugs with Apple showing how your real world tasks would be fixed if they implemented the true server vm.
Why does it take so much convincing to get Apple to do something about Java? We're constantly told to file bug reports, and frequent contributors, including myself sometimes, repeat this advice that if we want something changed, we have to let Apple know. I still agree. However, it seems that many things should happen without us having to beg for it for so long.
People have been asking about the server VM ever since Mac OS 10.0 came out.
People have been complaining about performance problems in the VM ever since 10.0 came out.
People have been trying to mix Cocoa-Java with AWT/Swing ever since 10.0 came out.
These questions have never disappeared. How many clues do they need?
