"Please Wait" HTML

I seem to recall someone on this list posting a sample of a "Please wait while Java Applet loads" HTML page that worked cross-platform and under most browsers.

I can't find it with any likely search. Anyone remember this, or have a suggestion?

I've tried the method described here:
<http://www.codeproject.com/java/javaappletwaitmsg.asp>
...but it doesn't work under Safari [1.2.1 (v125.1)/10.3.3]. The "Please wait" never disappears.
