I was about to embark on an application that involves audio capture and couldn't get JMF to work. The QT for Java bindings seem to work, but I'm not familiar with the framework. Is there a good FAQ about doing audio on osx and/or the pros and cons of JMF versus QT for Mac multimedia development?

Another OS/X java option might be CoreAudio. I think this is installed into /System/Library/Java/Extensions/CoreAudio.jar
Actually when I crashed QuickTime playing an MP3 the other day I think CoreAudio showed up in the thread trace dumps. So maybe you get it automatically with QT anyhow.
I was going to look at it at one time but didn't get far so I really can't tell you anything more about it. Maybe if you're considering something for OS/X only its a consideration. QT or JMF most likely better choices if you want to target more platforms.
