MRJ version in Panther Server

A user reported an error which only happens on Panther
Server, the Java on standard OS X (Panther and
pre-Panther) does not have this problem. I live
within driving distance to Cupertino, does Apple still
provide a testing lab where developers can test their
wares? The problem is that I am getting an unexpected
version number back as the mrj.version property. All
I can tell from the stack trace is that the version is
non-null and less than 3 characters. The quick fix
would be to have someone just tell me what the
mrj.version is on the latest Panther Server but I am
also looking for a longer term solution short of
paying $500 to buy Panther Server. I know developers
are supposed to treat MRJ as if it is going away
someday but I expected it would return null when that
day arrives. Maybe not.
