You might try taking a look at Eclipse (www.eclipse.org).  This is a full
JDT environment and is in it's 3rd major release.

Instantiations (www.instantiations.com) provides a GUI builder for both
SWING and SWT that works within Eclipse on OS X.

We build much of our directory management system using SWTDesigner. A very
nice tool.
