I wish I had kept the author's name but I didn't. Maybe he'll speak
up. It seems to me from that comment that he was posting the code for
anyone to use (it was posted to this forum, but the archives are not
turning up the result). If not he was at least posting it so you could
learn, so learn it and then write your own version. I like to keep his
code the same and intact and give credit where credit is due, which is
likely more than the author expected. I don't think there's much
danger of running afoul of the law in this case.

Has Smartspread either relinquished the copyright, or granted
permission for others to use the code? "All rights reserved."
suggests that they haven't. (Apple's sample code always gives
explicit permission [in four paragraphs of legalese] for the user to
do pretty much whatever he likes with it.) If not, anyone who uses
the posted code is probably running afoul of the law.
