I know one can set the default input/output encoding using
"-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8" on the command line. Is the default encoding
dependent on some environmental variable such as LANG. "export
LANG=en_US.UTF-8" does not seem to work.
I searched this mailing list, but found no answer.
