Re: J2SE 1.5 Beta 1 for MacOS X ?

If this is the thought moving Apple, then, if possible get a SUN machine and support the company that is the Soul of Java, they have an industrial strength working 64 bit JVM that can support hundreds of GB of memory. If you don't have the money, convert a PC lying around into linux, and use that. With X it is easy to run a program remotely and have its display appear locally, you don't even need a graphics card on said PC or SUN server.

It is true that it is nice being on Apple and no longer feeling the heat of the bleeding edge quite so heavily.

Still I think they should be following developments from SUN with no more than 3 months delay.

Welcome to the bleeding edge. If you _must_ use the latest JVM beta the second it's available ( er, what's the feature you're using that's not in 1.4.2? ), then you have to use a platform Sun releases, period. It doesn't _require_ giving up
