which demonstrates that you installed the Java 1.4.2 Developer update,
wherein the jni.h file is found. Mr. Kocher did not, so he has no 1.4.2/Headers folder. This comes up every time a new version is released:
you need to install the "xxx Developer" update to get jni.h for that version.

Glen's right, of course. And there is no end to the number of times
this question will continue to come up with the setup as currently
exists. So why not just provide the headers (and associated jars) in
the normal Java install and be done with it? The developer package
should be exactly the same as the user package except for the
inclusion of documentation and source tarballs; given the nature of
certain questions posed here, ensure the documentation is installed
and FAQ page displayed upon install.

Simply eliminating this single question would obviously increase OS X
Java developer productivity quite a bit!
