Yes they do, it is the close button. Though I agree about the design issue. There is something to say for having the close button be a consistent way to close a window, since other 'standard' methods are often unsatisfactory as well. For example, dialogs on many platforms often dismiss a the dialog window with an 'OK' button, which is rather insulting to the user when the message in the dialog is something along the lines of "An error has occured. You've lost all your data.". The user then being forced to say that it is "okay", when most likely they are not okay with the situation. I have seen some programs that use a "Dismiss" button for generic notifications that are asking a question.
