Probably.

What are you willing to go through to accomplish this?

How conversant are you with Perl? sh?

Are you willing to risk nuking your hard drive and starting over?

When 1.4.2U1 goes golden (remember it's in DP now), are you willing to go
through all this again?

Have you tried 1.4.2U1 DP1?

If so, have you filed a bug-report against it if it won't install?


If you really want to do this, the journey begins by showing the contents
of the installer package. You'll see pax files, bom's (read 'man lsbom'),
Perl scripts, and other fun stuff. The Perl scripts can be examined by
dropping them onto TextEdit. This path is totally unsupported and not
recommended. If you take it, you are doing so entirely at your own risk.
