I doubt that. It might be the answer for *one person*, but it won't solve the general problem unless Google allows *me* to search through *your* e-mail, and somehow I don't think you'd like that. Also, I can't imagine them being interested in hosting umpteen identical copies of a mailing list archive, which produces vastly more verbiage than a regular personal e-mail account.

Aside from that, the full list archives would require far more than 1 GB of space. I keep a transient archive of the last three weeks or so, and it's currently using about 40 MB. Assuming that's average, you'd fill your gigabyte after about a year and a half of postings.

As has been said recently, on this very list, Apple is seriously considering making *the* archives searchable by Google, once they figure out how to allow that and still protect the e-mail addresses from spam harvesters.
