Apple has not made any public statement regarding any planned support
for Java 5/1.5. It is a much discussed issue on this list, and there
might even be 1.5 features that you can do with other libraries that
work with Java 1.4.
There you will find some discussion on whether the Tiger preview will
get you a beta of any Java 5 by Apple. I don't have it so don't know,
and those who do have it are probably under NDA.
It won't take you long to find stuff on Java 5/Java 1.5 and see what
has been said so far. The most recent discussion was around about the
5th Oct.
Maybe one day Apple will see there way to add some level of statement
on Java 5 at http://developer.apple.com/java/faq/ ... even if it is
'Apple has not yet announced when Java 5 will be available... check
back here later...'
