Seconded. I was fortunate enough to read a review copy of this book recently and have to say I was very impressed. It doesn't claim to cover the entire QuickTime API, but it does cover all that you're likely to need in practice. Its main feature is a very complete set of useful and practical examples, covering everything from playing media, creating movies, editing them, using effects, capturing, displaying audio level meters, writing a scene differencing security camera style application, and more. The whole book is written in a very clear and concise style, and the examples are all compatible with Java 1.4.

I'm very excited about this book, both because it can only help raise the profile of one of my favourite APIs, and because it provides yet more reasons for Java developers from other platforms to look seriously at Mac OS X. It deserves to do very well.

The book is due out in December I believe.

(Cross posted, for obvious reasons I hope.)
