I'm afraid experiences like that (and others) have made me very wary
of generics in Java, even if they're not exactly the same as C++
templates.
I recently gave a talk at the Seattle Java Users Group (SeaJUG)
specifically targeted toward the trepidation many folks are feeling
about the introduction of generics in Java 1.5. I don't know how well
they'll stand on their own, but anyone who is interested is welcome to
