For those who are interested in a solution for this: it turned out that the
answer was already on my machine !!
enscript can be used to do some syntax highlighting and with a help of few
lines of Perl I can quickly generate my examples pages with a minimum of
work.

The last time I used enscript I don't think it was able to do much more than
print in landscape mode ... but I might be wrong
