Second, Alt is used in conjunction with the numeric keypad to enter
special symbols.  For example, Alt+0160 is the sticky space (which is
Option-Space on the Mac).  Here's a site listing some of the

Cool, I never knew that.  I figured that was less common than the Apple
usage (Mac accent input seems to be much more intuitive -- how many
custom character octal codes do you remember?).
