Sun doesn't support the Mac. You can't get *any* version of Java for the Mac from Sun.


If you really, really *have* to have it now, you can. But it'll cost you. All you need to do is become a paid member of the Apple Developer Connection (that is, buy a Select [$500] or Premiere [$3000] membership). That will give you access to the 10.4 beta releases, which include the Java 1.5 beta. However, the betas are covered by a non-disclosure agreement, which means you can't talk about them publicly. As far as Apple is concerned, java-dev is public (more so now that the archives are [in theory] Google-searchable). There's a mailing list which can be used without violating the NDA; details come with the 1.5 beta.
